Questions and answers
Common questions about fishtheweb. If yours isn't here, email [email protected].
The basics
Is fishtheweb free?
Yes, free to play. You earn gems by playing, and you can buy more to support the game, but you never need to.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It runs in your browser on phones, tablets and computers. Open fishtheweb.com and you're in.
Do I need an account?
No. You start as a guest. Signing in with Google (or Apple in the app) keeps your save safe and lets you play on other devices.
Which devices and browsers work?
Any up-to-date browser should work, including Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on iPhone, Android, iPad or a computer. It needs WebGL, which nearly every device has. Browsers inside other apps (Instagram, TikTok and so on) keep their own storage, so open the game in Safari or Chrome if you want to keep your save.
Saves and accounts
Will I lose my progress?
Your save is on our servers. As a guest, it's tied to the browser you play in, so if you clear its data or switch browsers you start over. Signing in with Google avoids that. Guest saves that haven't been played for 30 days get deleted. Signed-in saves don't.
How do I play on another device?
Sign in with Google (Settings → Sign in), then sign in with the same account on the other device. Your fisher, gear and Fishdex carry over.
How do I delete my save?
Go to Settings → Delete my save. It asks three times before deleting anything. Or email [email protected] with your in-game name.
Friends and safety
How do I play with friends?
Everyone on the same island fishes together. Tap the share icon next to the fishtheweb badge to copy your island's link. Anyone who opens it joins you. If you star a friend on their card, you'll land on their island whenever there's room.
Is the chat safe for kids?
Chat messages are short and filtered. Swearing is masked, and links, phone numbers and other personal details are blocked. Moderators watch the chat, and people who break the rules get muted or removed. Chat is kept for 14 days so our admins can review it and improve the filter, then deleted (see the Privacy Policy). Players under 13 need a parent or guardian’s OK to play (see the Terms).
What are the chat rules?
Be kind: no bullying, hate or mean jokes. Leave people be: stop when asked. Keep it clean: no swearing at people, nothing sexual. No politics: the island is a break from it. No dating: don't ask people out. Keep personal info private. No links (only fishtheweb.com), spam or begging. Play fair: no cheats, bots or exploits. Be yourself: nice names, never pretend to be anyone. One you: no new account to dodge a mute or ban. Share the island: don't follow or crowd people. Report, don't argue: use Report on their card. Do what the moderators ask. Type /rules in the game to see them any time.
How do I mute, block or report someone?
Tap their name or their fisher (right-click on a computer) to open their card. Mute hides their chat, Block hides them completely, and Report sends it to the moderators. Settings → Chat → Muted & blocked lists everyone you’ve muted or blocked.
Help and the app
It won't load, or it's slow. What can I do?
Reload the page and check your browser is up to date. On older phones, try performance mode (Settings → Perf.), which runs the game lighter. If it still won't load, the loading screen shows a support code. Send it to [email protected] and we'll look into it.
Is there an app?
Yes, for iPhone and iPad. It's the same island, and your save carries over. Get the app.
Can I stream or make videos of fishtheweb?
Yes, please, and no need to ask. You're welcome to monetize your videos and streams. The creator kit has logos, screenshots and clips.
How do I contact support?
Email [email protected] with your in-game name (and your support code, if you have one).
The guide covers how to play. Or start playing.
